The first issue of Saint Laurent Rive Droite’s FANZINE series, conceived as a platform through which invited artists and photographers could present work outside the conventional fashion campaign. London-born photographer Indigo Lewin served as its first guest editor, selecting images from her personal archive and placing them alongside fragments of writing and private notes. Curated by Anthony Vaccarello.

Lewin photographs friends, lovers and people within her immediate surroundings. Bodies, clothes, domestic interiors and temporary arrangements appear without the distance of commissioned fashion photography. The images retain the informality of snapshots while being carefully reorganised through sequence, scale and juxtaposition.

Published under Anthony Vaccarello’s Saint Laurent Rive Droite programme, the book belongs to a wider attempt to position the fashion house as a site for exhibitions, editions, photography and artist-led publishing. The project extended beyond retail into a temporary cultural programme operating between Paris and Los Angeles.

The issue accompanied an exhibition of Lewin’s photographs at the Saint Laurent Rive Droite spaces in Paris and Los Angeles, opening on 16 September 2021. Image, exhibition and publication were circulated together, but the book remains the portable record of the project. The publication is now sold out through the specialist listing located during cataloguing.

15.5 × 23.5 cm. 60 pages. Softcover; colour and black-and-white photographs; text and personal notes by the artist. Condition: very good. Light handling and minor surface wear to the wrappers, with slight edge and corner softening. Internally complete and clean.
