Published for an exhibition of recent work at Knoedler & Company, New York, 1995. The nearly unmarked cover reduces the publication to paper, texture and an embossed trace of the artist’s signature. Its restrained design reflects the physical sensitivity of Frankenthaler’s paintings and works on paper.
By the mid-1990s, Frankenthaler had spent more than four decades developing the possibilities of poured and stained colour. Her work helped establish a bridge between Abstract Expressionism and the emerging language of Colour Field painting, while retaining a distinctive balance between accident, control and open space.
25 × 25 cm. 16 pages. Offset-printed exhibition catalogue on textured paper stock; blind-embossed facsimile signature to front wrapper; staple-bound. Condition: very good. Light surface marks and handling wear to the textured wrappers, with minor edge and corner softening. Interior pages remain clean and securely bound.
Securely packed; tracked UK and international shipping available.
