Issued for the posthumous Joseph Cornell exhibition at Galerie 1900-2000, Paris, 13 March–8 April 1989. The accompanying publication, Joseph Cornell: Jeux, jouets et mirages by Édouard Jaguer, was produced with Éditions Filipacchi and comprised 96 pages with 92 reproductions, 62 in colour.
Cornell transformed boxes, found images and small collected objects into enclosed arrangements structured through association, memory and display. His constructions established the box not merely as a support, but as an active form of framing and concealment.
The invitation does not simply reproduce one of those constructions. It borrows its organisation. The image operates as a closed surface; the fold acts as a hinge; opening the card reveals a second register containing the book title, author, extent, reproduction count and original price.
Exhibition and publication occupy the same support. An image of a container becomes a container for information.
Die-cut, offset-printed folding card with colour reproduction and integral publication announcement. 18 × 11 cm folded; 18 × 22 cm opened. Condition: good vintage condition. Light handling and surface marking, faint age toning and minor corner wear. Original fold and shaped lower panel remain intact.
Securely packed; tracked UK and international shipping available.
