Collection: Walter Mehring

Walter Mehring (1896–1981) was a Berlin-born writer, poet and political cabaret author closely associated with Berlin Dada. He contributed to publications including the Dada Almanach and was a central figure in the movement’s literary and satirical wing. Forced into exile by the Nazi regime, he spent decades in France and the United States before returning to Europe. By the 1960s he had become one of the movement’s surviving witnesses, sought out as a living connection to its original networks.
