Collection: Ursula Schultze-Bluhm (URSULA)

Ursula Schultze-Bluhm (1921–1999), known professionally as URSULA, was a German artist whose intensely detailed paintings, drawings and assemblages developed an independent world of fantastic figures, hybrid bodies and private mythology. Associated with Jean Dubuffet and represented in his Collection de l’Art Brut, her work ultimately resisted easy classification between Art Brut, Surrealism and postwar German figuration. She participated in Documenta 6 in 1977 and the Sydney Biennale in 1979.
