Collection: Théodore Fraenkel
Théodore Fraenkel (1896–1964) was a French physician, writer and Surrealist associated with the circle around André Breton in Paris from the early 1920s. A close friend of Breton, Louis Aragon and other founding Surrealists, Fraenkel contributed to Surrealist publications and activities and is represented in historical surveys of the movement. He contributed to The Power of the City / The City of Power (Whitney ISP Papers No. 1, 1992) in the context of the exhibition’s engagement with Surrealist and Situationist accounts of urban experience and the dérive.
