Collection: Steve McQueen

Steve McQueen (born 1969, United Kingdom) is a British-Dutch artist and filmmaker whose early practice in film and video installation established him as a central figure in 1990s British art before his subsequent career as a feature film director. His video works, including Bear (1993) and Deadpan (1997), are characterised by physical intensity, formal economy and an acute attention to the body in space. McQueen won the Turner Prize in 1999 and participated in Spellbound: Art and Film at the Hayward Gallery, London, in 1996. His feature films include Hunger (2008), 12 Years a Slave (2013) and Blitz (2024).
