Collection: Roland Villeneuve
Roland Villeneuve (1907–1993) was a French author and specialist in demonology, esotericism and the history of the supernatural. His published works, among them La Bête du Gévaudan (1965), Le Diable dans l'art (1957), and L'Univers diabolique (Albin Michel, 1972), drew on deep archival research into diabolism, witchcraft and the iconography of evil across European cultural history.
His library of approximately 700 volumes, together with manuscripts, correspondence and iconographic material, was acquired by the Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal, Paris, establishing his collection as a primary reference resource in the field. In 1972, Librairie-Galerie L'Envers du Miroir presented a signing of L'Univers diabolique alongside an exhibition of dessins fantastiques by MIKA, situating his work within a programme connecting Surrealism, fantastic art and esoteric publishing.
