Collection: Rita Ackermann
Artist books, publications and printed matter by Rita Ackermann, the Hungarian-born, New York-based artist who emerged from the city’s art and music culture of the 1990s. Initially recognised for drawings and paintings of adolescent female figures, Ackermann has progressively moved between figuration and abstraction, with creation and destruction remaining closely linked throughout her practice. Bodies appear, are crossed out, submerged or reconstructed through layers of gesture and colour. Her collaborations with photographers including Richard Kern have extended this process into staged photography, rephotography and publication.
