Collection: Nils-Udo

Nils-Udo (born 1937) is a German artist who abandoned painting in 1972 to work directly with landscape, planting, arranging and photographing vegetation, water, ice, snow and other natural materials subject to growth, weather and disappearance. His practice developed independently of, yet in parallel with, the Land Art movement, situating him within an early European reconsideration of landscape that included Richard Long, Gina Pane and Giuseppe Penone. His work has been presented at major international venues including the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, and has been the subject of numerous monographic publications and outdoor commissions across Europe and North America.
