Collection: Matthew Barney
Matthew Barney is among the most ambitious and image-saturated artists of his generation. Working across sculpture, film, performance, and installation, his practice constructs closed symbolic systems in which biology, mythology, architecture, and ritual are made to operate as a single field. The Cremaster Cycle — five films produced between 1994 and 2002 — remains one of the most discussed and visually distinctive multimedia projects of the period, generating a body of printed matter, catalogues, and ephemera that circulated independently of the work itself.
Publications collected here document the reception and distribution of that practice: exhibition catalogues, survey texts, and printed objects through which Barney's image-world passed into bookstores, libraries, and private hands.
