Collection: Maria Eichhorn
Maria Eichhorn (b. 1962) is a German artist whose practice examines the legal, economic, and institutional frameworks that govern art and its circulation. Working across installation, text, and research-based projects, Eichhorn produces works that make visible the conditions — contractual, financial, and administrative — under which artworks are produced, owned, and transferred.
Her project Rose Valland Institut (2017–) investigates the restitution of art looted during the Nazi period. Her 5 weeks, 25 days, 175 hours (Documenta 12, 2007) converted the exhibition budget into a public company, making the financial structure of the institution the work itself. Eichhorn has exhibited at Documenta, the Venice Biennale, and major institutions across Europe and North America.
Publications gathered here include exhibition catalogues and printed matter relating to Maria Eichhorn's practice. Original and period items.
