Karen Shaw (born 1941) is an American artist whose paintings and works on paper combine text and image to examine language, perception and the social construction of meaning. Active in the New York art world from the 1970s, she exhibited at AIR Gallery and other feminist and alternative spaces, and her work was included in significant group exhibitions addressing the relationship between word and image in contemporary art practice.
