Ida Applebroog (born 1929) is an American artist whose paintings, drawings and artist books use deadpan narrative, repeated figures and fragmented text to examine domestic violence, power, gender and institutional authority. Working from the late 1960s onwards, she developed a distinctive visual language that combines the conventions of comic strips and medical illustration with a sustained critique of social and political structures. She received the College Art Association's Distinguished Artist Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2008.
