Collection: Ian Christie
Ian Christie (born 1945, United Kingdom) is a British film historian, critic and curator with a long association with the British Film Institute and a sustained engagement with the history of cinema, particularly Russian and Soviet film. He has written extensively on directors including Powell and Pressburger, Scorsese and Eisenstein, and has curated major film programmes and exhibitions at the intersection of cinema and the visual arts. Christie co-curated Spellbound: Art and Film at the Hayward Gallery, London, in 1996, with Philip Dodd, bringing a specifically cinematic intelligence to an exhibition concerned with the changing relationship between contemporary art and moving image.
