Collection: Günter Weseler

Günter Weseler (b. 1930, Tilsit) is a German sculptor whose Atemskulpturen — fur-covered objects fitted with mechanical bellows that cause them to rhythmically expand and contract — invest inanimate material with the appearance of organic respiration. Associated with the kinetic and object-art tendencies of the 1960s, his work was shown at Documenta 5 in 1972 and acquired by major German public collections including the Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf.
