Fiona Banner (born 1966, United Kingdom) is a British artist whose practice centres on language, text and the relationship between word and image. Working across large-scale text paintings, artist books, sculpture and installation, she is known for her exhaustive written descriptions of films — including full-length transcriptions of war films such as Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket — which collapse cinematic experience into dense blocks of prose. Her work engages persistently with the limits of representation, the materiality of language and the gap between seeing and saying.
