Collection: Douglas Huebler

Douglas Huebler (1924–1997) was an American conceptual artist whose work systematically questioned the relationship between language, photography and the documentation of time, place and identity. A key figure in the development of Conceptual art in the late 1960s, he participated in the landmark exhibition January 5–31, 1969 at Seth Siegelaub and contributed to the foundational Conceptual Art and Conceptual Aspects exhibition at the New York Cultural Center in 1970. His Variable Piece series, begun in 1968, proposed to photograph every person alive.
