Douglas Gordon (born 1966, Glasgow) is a Scottish artist working primarily with video, film, text and installation, whose practice centres on memory, identity, time and the psychology of spectatorship. His appropriation and radical deceleration of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho in 24 Hour Psycho (1993) established him as a leading figure in 1990s British and international contemporary art. He represented Scotland at the Venice Biennale in 1997 and won the Turner Prize in 1996, the Hugo Boss Prize in 1998 and the Premio 2000 at the Venice Biennale.
