Collection: Candice Breitz
Candice Breitz (born 1972) is a South African artist based in Berlin whose practice centres on video and installation, engaging with questions of identity, celebrity, popular culture, mass media and the construction of the self. Her work frequently involves appropriation of film and television material, as well as extended collaborative processes with non-professional performers, to examine how identity is shaped by cultural consumption and representation. Breitz has exhibited widely in major international institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, and the Venice Biennale, where she represented South Africa in 2017. Her work is held in numerous public collections internationally.
