Collection: Anthony Smart
Anthony Smart (born 1945) is a British sculptor whose practice emerged from the expanded field of Post-Minimalist sculpture in the late 1960s and early 1970s. His work characteristically engages questions of material process, structural logic and the spatial conditions of the exhibition site, placing him within a generation of younger British sculptors reassessing the relationship between form, weight and environment. Smart participated in The Condition of Sculpture at the Hayward Gallery, London, in 1975, a survey organised by William Tucker that brought together forty-one British and international artists at a pivotal moment in the redefinition of sculptural practice.
