Collection: Anthony Goicolea

Anthony Goicolea (born 1971) is a Cuban-American artist based in New York whose practice spans photography, video, drawing and installation. His early work, produced in the late 1990s and 2000s, used digital compositing to create uncanny, densely populated images featuring multiple versions of the same adolescent figure — often the artist himself — in ambiguous, psychologically charged scenarios. His subsequent practice has expanded to address landscape, memory, environmental change and the relationship between the human body and the natural world. Goicolea’s work entered the Whitney Museum collection in 2002 and has been exhibited widely in major international institutions. He was included in the S/O section of Know Who You Are at Every Age at the Bronx River Art Center in 2014, curated by Q_Raider and BDGRMMR.
