The New Rare works with collectors, estates, libraries, and institutions to acquire, consign, and place rare books, printed matter, correspondence, posters, ephemera, and archival material related to modern and contemporary art.

We consider individual objects, developed holdings, and estate material. Our interest extends to works whose value lies not only in rarity, but in their context, provenance, relation, and position within broader histories of exhibition, circulation, and artistic production.

Process

Submit an enquiry below with any available details, images, and supporting information. All submissions are reviewed carefully. For larger collections, estate material, or complex groups of works, further consultation can be arranged.

All enquiries are treated confidentially. Information relating to sellers, collections, or consignments is not disclosed without explicit consent.

We are interested in material that sits between artwork, document, and archive.

The New Rare acquires rare art books, artists’ publications, exhibition ephemera, correspondence, posters, invitations, catalogues, manuscripts, analog media, and related documentary material.

We don’t work like a traditional rare book dealer. Much of what we acquire comes from collectors and private individuals. Each object is researched, catalogued and given a register number before it is offered, so its history travels with it. Then it is placed with people who understand what it is.

We’re particularly interested in collections and larger groups of material, and are happy to discuss either purchase or consignment.
