Leonard began by recording disappearing shops and displays around Manhattan’s Lower East Side, then followed the circulation of second-hand clothing and other commodities through markets in Africa, Eastern Europe, Cuba, Mexico and the Middle East.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe project was made with a vintage Rolleiflex and analogue printing processes at the moment both the photographed businesses and the photographic technology itself were being displaced.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe invitation reproduces twelve images as a single grid: mattresses, chairs, appliances and wrapped merchandise positioned between use, disposal and resale.
