Richard Prince selected paintings, “anti-silkscreens” and two bronze sculptures spanning Dahn’s practice from 1981 onward. The title combines two Bob Dylan songs admired by both artists, framing the exhibition as a return through earlier work, personal memory and shared cultural references.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eDahn was a co-founder of the influential Mülheimer Freiheit group and an early figure in the German painting associated with the Neue Wilde and “Bad Painting.” By the late 1980s, his work had moved increasingly through screenprinting, found imagery, text, popular music and deliberately unstable shifts of style.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ePrince first met Dahn during his 1990 exhibition at Gladstone Gallery and subsequently collected his work for more than twenty years. Their connection developed through shared interests in punk and New Wave music, outsider art, appropriation and the movement between supposedly high and low cultural forms. Here Prince appears not simply as curator but as collector, friend and editor of another artist’s history.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe publication compresses that relationship into a small-format book.
