The original 495 × 394 mm C-type print entered the National Portrait Gallery in 2000 as a gift from the photographer. It remains Gardiner’s sole portrait in the collection.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe postcard reduces that portrait to a portable institutional record. On the reverse, the sitter becomes birth year, location, medium, dimensions, courtesy line and accession number: NPG x88630.
