The book appeared alongside Prince’s Nurse paintings, begun from his collection of inexpensive 1950s and 1960s paperback novels. For those works, Prince enlarged the original covers, transferred them to canvas and painted across their already manufactured images of desire.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe small paperback returns the Nurse image to the printed culture from which the paintings emerged. Anonymous photographs are selected, sequenced and placed under Prince’s name. It operates less as a catalogue than as another act of collecting and republication.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis copy records an unusually precise day of circulation. Bought at an art fair, carried across New York and signed that evening at another artist’s exhibition opening, it passed directly from commerce into a personal encounter.
