Instruction, repetition, concentration and interruption remain visible as the children move between the roles assigned to them and the expressions that escape those roles. The three-screen structure of \u003cem\u003eThe Gymschool\u003c\/em\u003e places different stages of training beside one another, while \u003cem\u003eMarianna\u003c\/em\u003e remains with a single dancer throughout an extended rehearsal.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe invitation removes the exhibition information from the image, leaving a young gymnast folded into a pose against a nearly empty room. The accompanying handout restores the dates, titles, biography and critical text, opening across four panels of stills from the two works.
