{"title":"Richard Serra","description":"\u003cp\u003eRichard Serra (1938–2024) was an American sculptor whose monumental works in weathering steel fundamentally redefined the possibilities of large-scale sculpture in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Emerging from the process art and Minimalist movements of the 1960s, Serra developed a practice centred on the physical and psychological experience of mass, weight, and space, documented in his influential 1967–68 Verb List. His work has been the subject of major retrospectives at the Museum of Modern Art, New York (1986 and 2007), and his large-scale installations are held in permanent collections at the Guggenheim Bilbao and Dia Beacon, among others.
