The \u003cem\u003eDrawing Which Makes Itself\u003c\/em\u003e series (1972–73) and the \u003cem\u003eLocus\u003c\/em\u003e series applied set theory directly to the organisation of paper on wall and floor, producing works of austere geometric precision. Later series, including \u003cem\u003eEgyptian Paintings\u003c\/em\u003e and works inspired by Renaissance geometry and astronomy, extended this mathematical rigour into colour and light.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eRockburne’s participation in \u003cem\u003ePhotonotations\u003c\/em\u003e (Rosa Esman Gallery, 1976) reflects her engagement with photography as a medium for conceptual investigation during a period when the boundaries between drawing, sculpture and documentation were actively being tested. Rosa Esman Gallery returned to the subject with \u003cem\u003ePhotonotations II\u003c\/em\u003e the following year.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSegal’s image already performs the title: a figure works across an illuminated theatre marquee, interrupting its letters and leaving the message temporarily unreadable.
